Letter Sent Regarding Rainbow Toe-socks
Dear Injinji Representative,
Then go to this page:
Words cannot convey my frustration and disappointment that your store has these socks available in size S, M, and L, but size XL are not in stock. Please tell me this is only temporary, and then let me know as soon as they are availablein size XL. Because of my size, I spend my whole damn life wearing socks that are white, grey, brown, or black, and I finally found these socks, and your store allowed me to get all the way to the "Purchase" button before saying it was out of stock. Today at REI, I saw these socks that would go well with my barefoot running shoes. They had about 50 pairs of size small, about 50 pairs of size medium, about 25 pairs of large, and 0 size XL.
Why can't big people have nice colorful clothes????
[Joel adds: I know this is a first-world problem. I wish everybody could have socks available to them, and rainbow toe socks at that.]
Imagine you are 6'5" tall with men's size 14 shoes.
Then go to this page:
Try to order socks in size XL.

"I couldnt't understand whites and where they got the right to spend money so lavishly." -Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Chapter 8
NB: she is speaking on whites. I am applying to humans with wealth beyond necessities. I declare that the right to make and purchase lavish resources is a humanity-ordained initiative (not provided by god or this planet), and we better check ourselves before we wreck ourselves. We collectively, thru discourse, evolved to this conclusion and no longer question the inherent assumptions. We are barely even in a position to ask these q's, wo/ major consternation at examining our lifestyles.

Trenchant Commentary on Obama's Performance from Americans for Safe Access (ASA) Director Steph Shearer
Steph Shearer tells the story about the hope Obama gave for positive change on this front, and disappointment of drastic negative bait-and-switch changes so clearly.
Regarding Obama campaigning in 2008: "I went to sleep that night excited about a new direction for this country that would include me as a recognized medical cannabis patient."
Now in 2012: "In fewer than fours years of President Obama, we have seen more raids on dispensaries than during the Bush Administration's entire eight-year tenure. The Obama Administration has taken property from landlords, threatened local officials, forced the release of patient records, used the Internal Revenue Service to bankrupt legitimate dispensaries, told banks to purge medical cannabis clients, evicted patients from low-income housing and denied a petition to recognize the well-established medical value of cannabis."
This is perfidy of the first-order. The rallies, the political pressure, and the petitions he has either ignored or pooh-poohed. I'm not a one-issue voter and hate the prospect of Romney in the WH, but while bending the arc of the universe toward justice on many other issues, why did Obama choose to bend it backward in this case, and what are we who care about this issue supposed to do with our vote?
Some reserve hope that he will make changes once he gets a second term, but I think of Lucy, Charlie Brown, and the football, and how the best indicator of future performance is past performance....
I like him in SO MANY WAYS, and just want him to do the right thing here. Instead he (and most democrats, actually) appears to be kowtowing again and again to corporate sponsors in the pharmaceuticals industry, in oil, in alcohol and tobacco, in law enforcement, and others, who give hundreds of millions to keep things as they are. The MMJ industry doesn't have that kind of money--they're not even allowed to put their money in banks!--and in today's post-Citizens-United decision, doesn't have access to their inner ear. In the meantime, Americans for Safe Access is losing access because of this perfidy.

Ladies, Is it Time to Rock out with your C**k out?
To all my women/female friends, to their allies, and to those
whom I've never met... After the abuse you've endured recently,
including ongoing desires by some powerful men in congress to
undo the recent Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (which
provides a lot of important women's health assistance, especially
for the poor), along with proposed bills to make laws
requiring doctors to insert ultrasound wands into your vaginas if
you want or need an abortion, it's time to take action.
While I don't advocate actually doing (without consent) what this picture seems to imply, and recognize that you may even be offended by the imagery below or the title above (the term is, of course, figurative, and implies full-on rock and rolling) of this post, I know this: There are far more offensive things in the world (including the idea of regressing our codified system of law toward something akin to the fifties). It's time to make sex and gender a non-factor when dealing with human relations, and with laws. I do think it's REALLY time to assert full equality. To do that, we need to remove these men from power and replace them with woman-friendly representatives, or greatly diminish their voices to the margins.
It's been forty years since the ERA was originally brought up for a vote, and it did not pass. I say let's revive the Equal Rights Amendment, and make sure women's rights are a major issue in November. Here is the process for getting an amendment proposed and passed. We need to make every state come alive, and pick representatives who will support women's rights. Women are half of the population, and I am hoping that a sleeping giant has been awakened in the last year.

I'm posting this so that I can have an easy regular go-to place to look this stuff up. I can NEVER remember. Until this process gains a critical mass in my cognition, I need help with preparing and boiling grains.
